  • Count Down To Summer

    Greetings Parents and Guardians,

Summer is just around the corner and we are certainly busy at school. We have many exciting things happening daily, including field trips, Provincial Achievement Exams, ringette, battle of the books, jump rope for heart, fundraising for different causes, track and field, and so much more.  The last two months of school always seem to fly by and with the extra sunshine, families are often very busy outside of school as well.  Thus, I would like to give all of our school families a gentle reminder that educating our children should always be our number one priority.  I recognize many of you are very busy this time of year, but please do your best to ensure that your child studies for exams, gets enough rest, and comes to school ready to learn.  Before you know it, the year will be over and they will all be relaxing on summer break.

Since the year is coming to an end, you might ask your child “What did you learn this year?”.  That can often be a difficult question to answer, so I will share with you what I believe we taught all of our students this year.  All of our students learned to be compassionate and caring individuals. They learned that taking care of others and demonstrating empathy makes our school and our community a better place.  They learned that respecting one another is one of our most important values, and that in the end, we are all responsible for our own actions.  The students learned that  tests are not difficult, it is the preparation and studying that is the difficult part.  They learned that at East Elementary, the staff always cares about them and that we want them to be successful both academically and socially. The students learned that resilience means overcoming adversity and failure, and that it is all right to fail, as long as we never give up. Then, the students learned that the most important thing they bring to school each day, is a positive attitude.

On behalf of the staff, I would like to thank you for letting us care for your children this year, it truly is a privilege. To our grade 6 class, I know we will all miss you, you are an amazing group of kids. I wish all of you a fun, exciting, and relaxing summer holidays.    Have a great summer everyone!
