    Dear Parents and Guardians,

We had a great start to our school year at East Elementary and it is hard to believe we are already finished one month of school.  It was very nice that we had the opportunity to host our meet the staff earlier in September and it was great to see you there and meet some of our new families.

During one of our September character education assemblies, we focused on something that is very important at East Elementary, the Three R’s.  For some of you “older” parents, this may ring a bell as being reading, writing, and arithmetic, however, that was not our focus.  At East, we believe the other, and equally important,  Three R’s are respecting yourself, respecting others, and respecting our school and community.  During our assembly we discussed all of these values and why they are so important at school, at home, and in our community. The students had an opportunity to watch a video, and ask questions on these topics and then create some posters which reflected these values and their thoughts. So if you would like a topic of conversation with your child one evening, ask them about the Three R’s and what they mean to them.

I wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving!
