  • What I Learned About Mountains

On the Family Day Weekend, my family had the fortune of spending a day skiing at Nakiska. It was a beautiful sunny day, and we were all excited to head out on the hill. We warmed up in the morning on a few green runs and then decided to head onto something more challenging, like a blue. I quickly realized that going from the green to blue was not the small incremental step I thought it would be and perhaps it was a bit too challenging. Regardless, we made it down the hill with some sore legs and decided to take a little break. On the way home the kids talked about how excited they were that they made it down the steep hill and how hard it was. For me this emphasized how important it is for all of us to challenge ourselves. Trying more difficult things at school, or in our personal lives, may cause us stress and feel scary, but these challenges are essential for all of us to experience growth. So next time you see a fork on the hill, why not try the blue run.

     Have a great month everyone!
