Eating disorders have the highest mortality rate of any mental illness and yet they are surrounded by myths, misunderstandings and secrecy. ED-ucate is a chance for educators, parents, fitness instructors, coaches and healthcare professionals to learn more about this complex illness.
Teachers are often the first to notice signs of disordered eating, but may not be clear how best to respond. Memorial Composite High School teacher, Kevin Tokarsky will be running one of the breakout sessions, called Eating Disorders and the Classroom to help teachers feel more prepared and informed.
The symposium will take place Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2016 at the Alberta Teachers’ Association building (11010- 142 Street) and thanks to sponsorship and donations, the registration fee for the entire day is only $40 and that includes lunch!
