Re: East Elementary School Hold & Secure – All Clear

Dear Parents/Guardians,

You should be aware of a situation that affected our school today. Just after 2:10 p.m. East Elementary School entered into a Hold and Secure while Leduc RCMP were called in to help calm one of our students who became agitated and behaved inappropriately outside on school grounds. This was just after recess and all other students were safely in their classrooms. During the Hold and Secure, as per protocol, all exterior doors were locked, students remained inside the school, and no one other than law enforcement was permitted into the building. Our school remained in the activated emergency protocol until 2:36 p.m., when the disturbance was resolved.

As a result of this event, your child may be upset. Should you feel your child requires additional assistance in dealing with the matter, outside of what you are able to provide for him/her, please contact the school.

The safety of our students is always our top priority. Please be assured that we are committed to providing a safe learning environment for our students. We take this incident very seriously.
