Two of our very own East Elementary students competed in the Husky Black Gold Regional Spelling Bee held at Caledonia School Tuesday evening. 24 students, grades 4 to 8, started in round one. Words were presented by pronouncer Mayor Greg Krischke, and the guest judges, Gruff and Kat from 93.1 the One either dinged the dreaded bell, or announced, “You are correct!” Congratulations to Cassidy and Stanley for making it as far as they did! A special thank you to all the sponsors. Boston Pizza provided pizza for the contestants before the competition, all contestants had t-shirt supplied for them made by Stich’n Magician of Wetaskiwin, and audience members were able to win one of three wonderful gift baskets supplied by the other 10 sponsors. A huge thank you to Husky, for donating the cash prizes for the winners: $500, $350, and $250 for the three finalists! Wow! Visit our Facebook page for more pictures.
